Indications
- Short-term management of post-operative pain
- Relief of pain, inflammation, and light sensitivity after ocular surgery
- Decrease eye inflammation or redness caused by seasonal allergies
Description
- Belongs to pyrrolo-pyrrole group of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID)
- Inhibits synthesis of prostaglandins
- Associated with the S-form
- Linear pharmacokinetic property
- Highly protein bound
- Mainly metabolized in the liver
- Metabolites and some unchanged drugs are excreted in urine
Pharmacology
- Potent analgesic of the non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs)
- Inhibits cyclooxygenase enzyme system
- Minimal anti-inflammatory effect at analgesic dose
Dosage & Administration
- Recommended tablet dose: 10mg every 4-6 hours for up to 7 days
- Injection may be administered as single or multiple doses
- Analgesic effect begins within 30 minutes
- Maximum effect reached in 1 to 2 hours
- Duration of analgesic effect is usually 4 to 6 hours
- Storage condition: Keep in a dry place away from light and heat
Interaction
- Other NSAIDs or aspirin can increase side effects of Winop
- Anti-coagulants can enhance anti-coagulant effect
- Beta Blockers can reduce the anti-hypertensive effect
- ACE Inhibitors can increase the risk of renal impairment
- Methotrexate can enhance the toxicity of methotrexate
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to Ketorolac or other NSAIDs
- Not to be used in children under 16 years of age
- Contraindicated as prophylactic analgesic before surgery

- Eye Drops: Should not be administered while wearing contact lenses
