Indications

Description

Belongs to pyrrolo-pyrrole group
Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID)
Inhibits synthesis of prostaglandins
Peripherally acting analgesic
Metabolized in the liver
Highly protein bound

Pharmacology

Inhibitor of cyclooxygenase enzyme system
Minimal anti-inflammatory effect at analgesic dose

Dosage & Administration

Tablet recommended dose: 10 mg every 4-6 hours
Injection recommended dose: varies by age and condition
Eye Drops: 1 drop in each eye 4 times daily

Interaction

Increased side effects with other NSAIDs or aspirin
Enhanced anti-coagulant effect with anti-coagulants
Reduced anti-hypertensive effect with beta blockers
Increased risk of renal impairment with ACE inhibitors
Enhanced toxicity of methotrexate

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to Ketorolac or other NSAIDs
Children under 16 years of age
Prophylactic analgesic before surgery
