Description
- Torosic is a pyrrolo-pyrrole group NSAID
- Has biological activity associated with the S-form
- Highly protein bound
- Largely metabolized in the liver
Active Ingredient
- Ketorolac Tromethamine
Indications
- Management of moderate to severe acute post-operative pain
- Relief of pain, inflammation, and light sensitivity after ocular surgery
- Decrease of eye inflammation or redness caused by seasonal allergies
Pharmacological Action
- Inhibition of cyclooxygenase enzyme system
- Inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis
- Minimal anti-inflammatory effect at analgesic dose
Dosage & Administration
- Tablet dosage: 10 mg every 4-6 hours for short-term use
- Injection dosage: varies by age and condition, with maximum effect in 1 to 2 hours after dosing
- Eye Drops: 1 drop in each eye 4 times daily
Interaction
- NSAIDs or aspirin: Increases side effects of Torosic
- Anti-coagulants: Enhances anti-coagulant effect
- Beta Blocker: Reduces the anti-hypertensive effect
- ACE Inhibitors: Increases risk of renal impairment
- Methotrexate: Enhances the toxicity of methotrexate
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to Ketorolac or other NSAIDs
- Children under 16 years of age
- Prophylactic analgesic before surgery
