Indications

  • Treatment of urinary tract infections

Pharmacology

  • Antibacterial agent for urinary tract infections
  • High solubility in urine
  • Imparts brown color to urine
  • Inactivates or alters bacterial ribosomal proteins
  • Active against Gram-Positive Aerobes
  • Active against Gram-Negative Aerobes

Dosage

  • Different dosages for different types of urinary tract infections

Interaction

Contraindications

  • Anuria
  • Oliguria
  • Significant impairment of renal function
  • Pregnancy at 38-42 weeks, during labor and delivery
  • Known hypersensitivity to Nitrofurantoin
