Description
- Spasmolytic flavone derivative
- Relaxes smooth muscle in the urinary tract
- Indicated for overactive bladder
- Treats symptoms of urge urinary incontinence
- Reduces urinary frequency
Mode of Action
- Acts as a direct antagonist at muscarinic acetylcholine receptors
- Reduces tonus of smooth muscle in the bladder
- Reduces urge incontinence episodes
- Improves retention
Dosage & Administration
- Adult dose: 100 mg to 200 mg 3 times a day
- Dose reduction possible with symptom improvement
- Not established for children under 12 years
Contraindications
- Pyloric or duodenal obstruction
- Obstructive intestinal lesions
- Achalasia
- Gastrointestinal hemorrhage
- Obstructive uropathies of the lower urinary tract
Side Effects
- Gastrointestinal: Nausea, vomiting, dry mouth
- CNS: Vertigo, headache, mental confusion, drowsiness
- Hematologic: Reversible leukopenia
- Cardiovascular: Tachycardia, palpitation
- Allergic: Urticaria, eosinophilia, hyperpyrexia
- Ophthalmic: Increased ocular tension, blurred vision

- Pregnancy Category B
- Use during pregnancy only if clearly needed
- Caution during lactation
Precautions & Warnings
- Cautious use in suspected glaucoma patients
