Description
Flamyd 0.75% Vaginal Gel is indicated for the treatment and prevention of various infections such as trichomoniasis, amoebiasis, bacterial vaginosis, giardiasis, acute ulcerative gingivitis, anaerobically infected leg ulcers, and more. It is also used in the prevention of post-operative infections due to anaerobic bacteria.
Indications
- Prevention of post-operative infections due to anaerobic bacteria
- Treatment of septicaemia, bacteraemia, peritonitis, brain abscess, pelvic abscess, pelvic cellulitis
- Treatment of urogenital trichomoniasis
- Treatment of bacterial vaginosis
- Treatment of all forms of amoebiasis
- Treatment of giardiasis
- Treatment of acute ulcerative gingivitis
- Treatment of anaerobically infected leg ulcers and pressure sores
- Treatment of acute dental infections due to anaerobic organisms
- Treatment of antibiotic associated pseudomembranous colitis
Pharmacology
- Metronidazole is a member of the imidazole class of antibacterial drug

- VaginalGel: Recommended dose is one applicator full intravaginally once or twice a day for 5 days

Interaction
- Interaction with disulfiram leading to psychotic reactions
- Interaction with alcohol causing antabuse effect

Contraindications
Contraindicated in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to Metronidazole or other Nitroimidazole derivatives
