Indications
- Treatment of fungal blepharitis
- Treatment of conjunctivitis
- Treatment of keratitis caused by susceptible organisms
- Treatment of Fusarium solani keratitis
Pharmacology
- Tetraene polyene antibiotic
- Derived from Streptomyces natalensis
- Binds to sterols in fungal cell membrane
- Causes change in membrane permeability
- Possesses in vitro activity against yeast and filamentous fungi
- Predominantly fungicidal
Dosage & Administration
- Preferred initial dosage of 1 drop
- Frequency of application can be reduced after 3-4 days
- Therapy duration of 14 to 21 days
- Specific dosages for fungal keratitis, blepharitis, and conjunctivitis
- Pediatric use not established
Interaction
- May increase spread of fungal eye infection when used with topical corticosteroid
Contraindications
- Contraindicated in individuals with hypersensitivity to any component

Precautions & Warnings
- Do not touch dropper tip to any surface
- Caution regarding contact lens use
- Failure of improvement after 7-10 days may indicate non-susceptible organism
- Adherence of the suspension to areas of epithelial ulceration
- Retaining the suspension in the fornices
