Description
Emedon 10 mg Tablet is a dopamine antagonist medication used to treat nausea and vomiting.
Dosage
- 10-20 mg for adults every 6-8 hours daily
- 2-4 ml suspension/10 kg body weight for children every 6-8 hours daily
Administration
Should be taken 15-30 minutes before meals and, if necessary, before retiring.
Indications
- Dyspeptic symptom complex
- Acute nausea and vomiting

Pharmacology
Domperidone blocks dopamine receptors in the Chemoreceptor Trigger Zone (CTZ) and stomach, restoring normal motility and tone of the upper gastrointestinal tract.
Interaction
- May be affected by anticholinergic drugs
- Antacids and antisecretory drugs lower its oral bioavailability
- Metabolism influences by CYP3A4
- May influence the absorption of concomitantly orally administered drugs
Contraindications
- Known hypersensitivity to the drug
- Neonates
- Gastrointestinal hemorrhage, mechanical obstruction, or perforation
- Prolactin releasing pituitary tumor
