Description
A synthetic glucocorticoid used for the treatment of various conditions like severe allergic states, collagen diseases, dermatologic diseases, endocrine disorders, gastrointestinal diseases, neoplastic diseases, nervous system conditions, ophthalmic diseases, renal diseases, respiratory diseases, rheumatic disorders, and other miscellaneous conditions.

Pharmacology
Decreases inflammation by inhibiting leukocyte migration and reversing increased capillary permeability. Suppresses normal immune response.

Storage Conditions
- Store in a cool & dry place, protected from light & moisture for tablets
- Store below 30°C, protected from light for injections. Do not freeze.

- Severe allergic conditions in asthma, atopic dermatitis, contact dermatitis, drug hypersensitivity reactions
- Collagen diseases like lupus erythematosus, rheumatoid arthritis
- Dermatologic diseases such as bullous dermatitis herpetiformis, pemphigus
- Endocrine disorders like primary or secondary adrenocortical insufficiency
- Gastrointestinal diseases including regional enteritis and ulcerative colitis
- Neoplastic diseases like leukemias and lymphomas
- Nervous system conditions like acute exacerbations of multiple sclerosis
- Ophthalmic diseases such as uveitis
- Renal diseases to induce diuresis or remission of proteinuria
- Respiratory diseases like berylliosis, pulmonary tuberculosis
- Rheumatic disorders like acute gouty arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis

Pregnancy Warnings

Precautions
- The lowest possible dose should be used

- Minimize drug-induced secondary adrenocortical insufficiency
- Use with caution in gastrointestinal conditions
- Consideration should be given to patients at increased risk of osteoporosis
- Monitor for acute myopathy with high doses
Pediatric Use
Titrate to the lowest effective dose to minimize potential growth effects
Usability Instruction
If no favorable response is noted within a couple of days, continuation of glucocorticoid therapy is undesirable. In chronic conditions requiring long-term therapy, the lowest adequate dosage should be used.
