Treats steroid responsive inflammatory ocular conditions with bacterial infections or risk of bacterial infections

Inhibits chemotactic infiltration of neutrophils into the site of inflammation
Possesses antibacterial activity against a wide range of gram-negative and gram-positive organisms
Interferes with the enzyme DNA gyrase for bacterial DNA synthesis

Topically used in the treatment of inflammatory conditions of the anterior segment of the eye
Recommended dosage: 1 drop every four to six hours for the eye
Dosage for ear infections: 4 drops instilled into the affected ear 2 times daily for 7 days in different ear infection scenarios
For pediatric use, safety and effectiveness below 1 year have not been established
Storage period after first opening: 30 days

Indicated for both eye and ear use
Caution exercised in use during pregnancy and lactation
Routinely monitor intraocular pressure during prolonged use
Avoid use in hypersensitivity to any ingredient of the product, herpes simplex and other viral conditions, mycosis, glaucoma, newborn babies, and fungal diseases of ocular or auricular structures

Transient ocular burning or discomfort
Stinging, redness, itching, conjunctivitis/keratitis
Periocular/facial edema, foreign body sensation, photophobia
Blurred vision, tearing, dryness, and eye pain
Dizziness
Elevation of intraocular pressure (IOP) with possible development of glaucoma
Infrequent optic nerve damage, posterior subcapsular cataract formation, delayed wound healing
Discomfort and ear pain
Irritability, erythema

Specific drug interaction studies not conducted with ophthalmic Ciprofloxacin and Dexamethasone
Systemic administration of some quinolones shown to elevate plasma concentrations of theophylline, interfere with the metabolism of caffeine, enhance the effects of the oral anticoagulant warfarin and its derivatives, transient elevations in serum creatinine in patients receiving cyclosporin concomitantly

No adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women
Caution advised for usage during pregnancy if potential benefit justifies potential risk to the fetus
Not known whether the drug is excreted in human milk, caution advised during nursing

Consider possibility of fungal infections of the cornea after long-term steroid dosing and in patients with persistent corneal ulceration
Prolonged use of antibiotic may result in overgrowth of non-susceptible organisms
Prolonged use of topical ophthalmic steroids may result in glaucoma, with damage to the optic nerve, defects in visual acuity and fields of vision, posterior subcapsular cataract formation
Intraocular pressure should be routinely monitored
