Description
This product is indicated for the treatment of steroid responsive inflammatory ocular conditions where bacterial infections or risk of bacterial infections co-exist. The combination can also be used for post-operative inflammation and any other ocular inflammation associated with infection. It is also indicated in the treatment of ear infections accompanied by inflammation such as otitis externa, acute and chronic otitis media etc. The combination may also be used post-operatively in the ear. Dexamethasone has an anti-inflammatory and anti-allergic action, reducing prostaglandin synthesis and inhibiting the chemotactic infiltration of neutrophils. Ciprofloxacin has in vitro activity against a wide range of gram-negative and gram-positive organisms.

- Potential systemic interactions with theophylline, caffeine, warfarin, and cyclosporin
- Contraindications:
- Hypersensitivity to any ingredient
- Herpes simplex and other viral conditions
- Mycosis
- Glaucoma
- Newborn babies
- Fungal diseases of ocular or auricular structures
- Side Effects:
- Eye: Transient ocular burning or discomfort, stinging, redness, itching, conjunctivitis/keratitis, elevations in intraocular pressure, optic nerve damage, cataract formation, delayed wound healing, dizziness
- Ear: Discomfort, ear pain, irritability, dizziness, erythema
- Pregnancy & Lactation:
- Limited data on use during pregnancy and lactation
- Caution advised for nursing mothers
- Precautions & Warnings:
- Consideration for fungal infections after long-term steroid dosing
- Monitoring of intraocular pressure during prolonged steroid use
- Risk of glaucoma, optic nerve damage, visual defects, and cataract formation
- Prolonged antibiotic use may result in overgrowth of non-susceptible organisms
- Therapeutic Class: Aural steroid & antibiotic combined preparations
- Storage Conditions: Store in a cool and dry place, away from light. Keep out of reach of children. Shake well before each use. Use within 30 days after first opening. Close the bottle strongly after use
