Indications
- Steroid responsive inflammatory ocular conditions
- Chronic anterior uveitis
- Corneal injury from chemical radiation or thermal burns
- Penetration of foreign bodies
- Combination with anti-infective component
Pharmacology
- Bactericidal activity of Tobramycin
- Inhibition of normal protein synthesis in susceptible bacteria
- Inhibition of protein synthesis by Dexamethasone
- Inhibition of phospholipase A2 by Dexamethasone
- Inhibition of chemo-tactic infiltration of neutrophils by Dexamethasone
Dosage & Administration
- Insert 1 drop into the conjunctival sac 3-5 times per day
- Increase dosage to 1 drop every 2 hours for initial 24 to 48 hours
- Apply eye ointment into the conjunctival sac 3-4 times per day
- Pediatric use not established for patients below 2 years
Interaction
- No specific interaction studies performed with Dexagen T eye drops
- Allow 10 minutes interval with other topical ophthalmic medicines
Contraindications
- Epithelial herpes simplex keratitis
- Vaccinia and varicella
- Mycobacterial infection of the eye
- Hypersensitivity to any component of the medication
Side Effects
- Hypersensitivity and localized ocular toxicity
- Elevation of intraocular pressure with possible development of glaucoma
- Optic nerve damage
- Posterior sub capsular cataract formation
- Delayed wound healing
Pregnancy & Lactation
- Lack of adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women
- Use during pregnancy if potential benefit justifies risk to the fetus
- Unknown systemic absorption to produce detectable quantities in human milk
- Caution during nursing period
Precautions & Warnings
- Possibility of fungal infections of the cornea after long-term steroid dosing
- Prolonged use may result in overgrowth of non-susceptible organisms
- Consider super infection and initiate appropriate therapy
- Cross-sensitivity to other aminoglycoside antibiotics may occur
Overdose Effects
- Overdose through local administration not known
- Specific measures to reduce resorption in case of accidental oral intake

Storage Conditions
- Room temperature storage
- Close the bottle immediately after use
- Do not use for longer than one month after opening
