Indications
- Steroid responsive inflammatory ocular conditions
- Chronic anterior uveities
- Corneal injury
- Penetration of foreign bodies
Pharmacology
- Bactericidal activity by specific inhibition of normal protein synthesis
- Inhibition of phospholipase A2
- Inhibition of chemo-tactic infiltration of neutrophils
Dosage & Administration
- 1 drop into the conjunctival sac 3-5 times per day
- Initial dosage increase to 1 drop every 2 hours for 24-48 hours
- Apply a small amount of eye ointment 3-4 times per day
- Pediatric use not established below the age of 2 years
Interaction
- No specific interaction studies performed
- Allow 10 minutes interval for concomitant therapy with other topical ophthalmic medicines
Contraindications
- Epithelial herpes simplex keratitis
- Mycobacterial infection of the eye
- Hypersensitivity to any component of the medication
Side Effects
- Hypersensitivity
- Localized ocular toxicity
- Elevation of intraocular pressure
- Possible development of glaucoma
- Posterior sub capsular cataract formation
- Delayed wound healing
Pregnancy & Lactation
- No adequate and well controlled studies in pregnant women
- Use during pregnancy if potential benefit justifies potent risk to fetus
- Caution during nursing as systemic absorption may produce detectable quantities in human milk
Precautions & Warnings
- Possibility of fungal infections of the cornea after long-term steroid dosing
- Prolonged use may result in overgrowth of non-susceptible organisms
- Cross-sensitivity to other aminoglycoside antibiotics may occur
Overdose Effects
- Overdose through local administration not known
- Specific measures to reduce resorption in case of accidental oral intake
- No specific antidote

Storage Conditions
- Store at room temperature
- Close the bottle immediately after use
- Do not use for longer than one month after opening the bottle
