Indications
- Treatment of steroid-responsive inflammation of the palpebral and bulbar conjunctiva
- Treatment of steroid-responsive inflammation of the cornea
- Treatment of steroid-responsive inflammation of the anterior segment of the globe
Pharmacology
- Corticosteroid with anti-inflammatory action
- Induction of phospholipase A2 inhibitory proteins
- Inhibition of biosynthesis of potent mediators of inflammation
- Postulated control over prostaglandins and leukotrienes
Dosage & Administration
- Shake bottle before use
- 1 to 2 drops instilled into the conjunctival sac two to four times daily
- Safe increase to 2 drops every hour during initial 24 to 48 hours
- Caution regarding premature therapy discontinuation
- Safety and effectiveness not demonstrated in children under 2 years of age

- Specific drug interaction studies not conducted
Contraindications
- Acute superficial Herpes simplex keratitis
- Fungal diseases of ocular structures
- Vaccinia and varicella
- Mycobacterial infection of the eye
- Most other viral diseases of the cornea and conjunctiva
- Tuberculosis of the eye
- Hypersensitivity to the constituents of this medication

- Possible development of glaucoma
- Loss of visual acuity or defects in fields of vision
- Eye irritation
- Ocular hyperemia
- Eye pain
- Visual disturbance
- Foreign body sensation
- Eyelid edema
- Blurred vision
- Eye discharge
- Eye pruritus
- Eye swelling
- Posterior subcapsular cataract formation
- Ulcerative keratitis
- Ocular infection (bacterial, fungal, viral)
- Punctate keratitis
- Hypersensitivity
- Rash
- Delayed wound healing
Pregnancy & Lactation
- Pregnancy Category B3
- Use during pregnancy only if potential benefit justifies potential risk to the fetus
- Unknown systemic absorption into breast milk
- Consideration of serious adverse reactions in nursing infants
Precautions & Warnings
- Caution required in patients with a history of Herpes simplex keratitis
- Use for more than 10 days only under strict supervision with regular checks for intraocular pressure
- Potential masking, activation, or aggravation of eye infections
- Consideration for alternative treatment if no improvement after a few days

Storage Conditions
- Store in a dry place away from light
- Keep out of reach of children
- Prevent contamination of the dropper tip and suspension
- Tightly close the bottle when not in use
- Do not use after 4 weeks of first opening
