Indications
- Treatment of steroid responsive inflammation of the palpebral and bulbar conjunctiva
- Treatment of steroid responsive inflammation of the cornea
- Treatment of steroid responsive inflammation of the anterior segment of the globe
Pharmacology
- Corticosteroid with anti-inflammatory action
- Induction of phospholipase A2 inhibitory proteins
- Inhibition of prostaglandins and leukotrienes release
- Lower propensity to increase intraocular pressure compared to Dexamethasone
Dosage & Administration
- 1 to 2 drops instilled into the conjunctival sac two to four times daily
- Initial 24 to 48 hours dosage increase to 2 drops every hour
- Use not demonstrated in children under 2 years of age
Interaction
- Specific drug interaction studies not conducted
Contraindications
- Contraindicated in acute superficial Herpes simplex keratitis
- Contraindicated in fungal diseases of ocular structures
- Contraindicated in varicella and mycobacterial infection of the eye
- Contraindicated in hypersensitivity to the constituents of this medication
Side Effects
- Elevation of intraocular pressure
- Loss of visual acuity or defects in fields of vision
- Eye irritation
- Ocular hyperaemia
- Blurred vision
- Posterior subcapsular cataract formation
- Ocular infection
- Punctate keratitis
- Hypersensitivity
- Delayed wound healing
Pregnancy & Lactation
- Pregnancy Category B3
- Use during pregnancy only if potential benefit justifies potential risk to the fetus
- Not known whether ophthalmic use of corticosteroids could result in systemic absorption to produce detectable quantities in breast milk
Precautions & Warnings
- Caution required in patients with history of Herpes simplex keratitis
- Not to be used for more than 10 days without supervision
- May mask, activate, or aggravate an eye infection
- If no improvement seen, consider alternative treatment

Storage Conditions
- Store in a dry place away from light
- Keep out of reach of children
- Do not touch the dropper tip to prevent contamination
- Tightly close the bottle when not in use
- Do not use after 4 weeks of first opening
