Indications
- Acute and chronic allergic non-infectious conjunctivitis treatment
- Keratitis treatment with severe swelling and intravascular injection
- Non-infectious inflammation of the anterior segment of the eye treatment
- Post-operative irritative conditions after strabismus surgery
- Post-operative irritative conditions after cataract surgery
- Post-operative irritative conditions after glaucoma surgery
Pharmacology
- Fluorometholone induction of phospholipase A2 inhibitory proteins
- Control of biosynthesis of potent mediators of inflammation
- Inhibition of release of arachidonic acid
- Tetrahydrozoline alpha agonist action
- Constriction of conjunctival blood vessels
Dosage & Administration
- Adult dosage: 1 drop into the conjunctival sac 2-3 times daily
- Increased adult dosage: 1 drop hourly for first one to two days for severe conditions
- Not established safety & effectiveness in children below 2 years of age
Interaction
- Interaction with antidepressant drugs inhibiting Mono Amino Oxidase (MAO) Enzyme
Contraindications
- Infectious conjunctivitis or keratitis
- Injuries or ulcerous processes of the cornea
- Glaucoma
- Diseases associated with stromal damage of the cornea or sclera
- Dry eyes
Side Effects
- Mild burning sensation
- Reversible increase in intraocular pressure
- Reactive hyperemia
- Cataract & corneal defects
- Glaucoma
- Systemic effects (chronic use)
Pregnancy & Lactation
- No adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnancy or while breastfeeding
- Use during pregnancy only if potential benefits justify potential risk to the fetus
Precautions & Warnings
- Avoid prolonged use
- Use after a careful risk-benefit evaluation in patients with severe blood circulation diseases
- Use after a careful risk-benefit evaluation in patients with metabolic disturbances
- Use after a careful risk-benefit evaluation in patients under treatment with MAOIs & other potentially hypertensive drugs
- Use after a careful risk-benefit evaluation in patients with a history of cataract
- Use after a careful risk-benefit evaluation in patients with herpes simplex infection
- Use after a careful risk-benefit evaluation in patients with rhinitis sicca
Overdose Effects
- Almost no likelihood of an overdose when used as directed
- CNS, cardiac and psychiatric disturbances in case of acute overdosage with tetryzoline
- Mydriasis
- Cyanosis and fever
- Administration of activated charcoal
- Gastric lavage
- Artificial ventilation with oxygen
- Use of phentolamine to lower blood pressure
- Vasopressors are contraindicated
- Antipyretic and anticonvulsive therapy in case of intoxication

Storage Conditions
- Keep out of the reach of children
- Store in a cool, dry place away from heat and direct light
- Do not use more than 4 weeks after opening
