Indications

  • Allergic conjunctivitis
  • Acne rosacea
  • Superficial punctate keratitis
  • Herpes zoster keratitis
  • Iritis
  • Cyclitis
  • Post-operative inflammation

Pharmacology

Inhibits inflammatory response, delays healing, controls biosynthesis of mediators of inflammation

Dosage & Administration

  • Instill 1 drop into the conjunctival sac 4 times a day for ocular inflammation
  • Instill 1 drop 2 times a day for inflammation after surgery
  • Apply ointment 4 times daily after surgery
  • Instill gel 4 times daily after surgery

Interaction

Not expected to affect pharmacokinetics of systemically administered drugs

Contraindications

  • Viral diseases of the cornea and conjunctiva
  • Mycobacterial infection of the eye
  • Known or suspected hypersensitivity to ingredients
  • Other ophthalmic corticosteroids

Pregnancy & Lactation

Pregnancy Category C, caution during nursing

Precautions & Warnings

  • Re-evaluate if no improvement after two days
  • Monitor intraocular pressure if used for 10 days or longer
  • Consider fungus invasion in persistent corneal ulceration
  • Advise to consult a physician if symptoms worsen
  • Avoid wearing contact lenses during therapy
