Acunac 0.09% (Ophthalmic Solution)

Indications

• Treatment of postoperative inflammation
• Reduction of ocular pain
• Patients who have undergone cataract extraction

Pharmacology

• Preparation of Bromfenac ophthalmic solution
• Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID)
• Anti-inflammatory activity
• Inhibition of cyclooxygenase 1 and 2
• Blockade of prostaglandin synthesis

Dosage & Administration

• One drop applied to affected eye(s) once daily
• Beginning 1 day prior to cataract surgery
• Continued on the day of surgery
• Through the first 14 days of the postoperative period

Contraindications

• Known hypersensitivity to any ingredients

Side Effects

• Abnormal sensation in eye
• Conjunctival hyperemia
• Eye irritation (burning/stinging)
• Eye pain
• Eye pruritus
• Eye redness
• Headache
• Iritis

Pregnancy & Lactation

• Pregnancy Category C
• Caution during pregnancy
• Caution when administered to a nursing woman

Precautions & Warnings

• May slow or delay healing
• Recommended caution in patients with bleeding tendencies
• Potential for healing problems
• Concomitant use with topical steroids

Storage Conditions

• Store below 30°C
• Store in a dry place away from light
• Keep out of reach of children
• Prevent contamination of dropper tip and solution
• Do not touch eyelids or surrounding areas with dropper tip
• Tightly close bottle when not in use
• Do not use after 4 weeks of first opening
