Indications
- Treatment of postoperative inflammation
- Reduction of ocular pain
- Patients who have undergone cataract extraction
Pharmacology
- Preparation of Bromfenac ophthalmic solution
- Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID)
- Mechanism of action: inhibits cyclooxygenase 1 and 2
- Blocks prostaglandin synthesis
Dosage & Administration
- One drop of ophthalmic solution
- Applied to the affected eye(s) once daily
- Begin 1 day prior to cataract surgery
- Continued on the day of surgery
- Through the first 14 days of the postoperative period
Contraindications
- Known hypersensitivity to any ingredients of the formulation
Side Effects
- Abnormal sensation in eye
- Conjunctival hyperemia
- Eye irritation (including burning/stinging)
- Eye pain
- Eye pruritus
- Eye redness
- Headache
- Iritis
Pregnancy & Lactation
- Pregnancy Category C
- Use during pregnancy if potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus
- Caution when administered to a nursing woman
Precautions & Warnings
- Topical NSAIDs and topical steroids may slow or delay healing
- Recommended to be used with caution in patients with known bleeding tendencies
- Caution in patients receiving other medications which may prolong bleeding time

Storage Conditions
- Store in a cool (below 30°C), dry place and away from light
- Keep out of reach of children
- Prevent contamination of the dropper tip and solution
- Do not use after 4 weeks of first opening
