Indications

Pharmacology

Preparation of Bromfenac ophthalmic solution
Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID)
Mechanism of action: inhibits cyclooxygenase 1 and 2
Blocks prostaglandin synthesis

Dosage & Administration

One drop of ophthalmic solution
Applied to the affected eye(s) once daily
Begin 1 day prior to cataract surgery
Continued on the day of surgery
Through the first 14 days of the postoperative period

Contraindications

Known hypersensitivity to any ingredients of the formulation

Side Effects

Abnormal sensation in eye
Conjunctival hyperemia
Eye irritation (including burning/stinging)
Eye pain
Eye pruritus
Eye redness
Headache
Iritis

Pregnancy & Lactation

Pregnancy Category C
Use during pregnancy if potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus
Caution when administered to a nursing woman

Precautions & Warnings

Topical NSAIDs and topical steroids may slow or delay healing
Recommended to be used with caution in patients with known bleeding tendencies
Caution in patients receiving other medications which may prolong bleeding time

Storage Conditions

Store in a cool (below 30°C), dry place and away from light
Keep out of reach of children
Prevent contamination of the dropper tip and solution
Do not use after 4 weeks of first opening
