Indications

Treatment of postoperative inflammation

Patients who have undergone cataract extraction

Pharmacology

Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID)
Block prostaglandin synthesis
Inhibit cyclooxygenase 1 and 2
Prostaglandin mediator of intraocular inflammation
Disruption of blood-aqueous humor barrier
Vasodilatation
Increased vascular permeability
Leukocytosis
Increased intraocular pressure

Dosage & Administration

One drop applied once daily
Beginning 1 day prior to cataract surgery
Continued on the day of surgery
Through the first 14 days of the postoperative period

Contraindications

Known hypersensitivity to any ingredients

Side Effects

Abnormal sensation in eye
Conjunctival hyperemia
Eye irritation (including burning/stinging)
Eye pain
Eye pruritus
Eye redness
Headache
Iritis

Pregnancy & Lactation

Pregnancy Category C
No adequate and well-controlled studies
Caution during pregnancy
Caution when administered to a nursing woman

Precautions & Warnings

NSAIDs and steroids may slow or delay healing
Caution in patients with known bleeding tendencies
Caution in patients receiving medications prolonging bleeding time
