Indications

  • Treatment of postoperative inflammation
  • Reduction of ocular pain
  • Patients who have undergone cataract extraction

Pharmacology

  • Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID)
  • Block prostaglandin synthesis
  • Inhibit cyclooxygenase 1 and 2
  • Prostaglandin mediator of intraocular inflammation
  • Disruption of blood-aqueous humor barrier
  • Vasodilatation
  • Increased vascular permeability
  • Leukocytosis
  • Increased intraocular pressure

Dosage & Administration

  • One drop applied once daily
  • Beginning 1 day prior to cataract surgery
  • Continued on the day of surgery
  • Through the first 14 days of the postoperative period

Contraindications

  • Known hypersensitivity to any ingredients

Side Effects

  • Abnormal sensation in eye
  • Conjunctival hyperemia
  • Eye irritation (including burning/stinging)
  • Eye pain
  • Eye pruritus
  • Eye redness
  • Headache
  • Iritis

Pregnancy & Lactation

  • Pregnancy Category C
  • No adequate and well-controlled studies
  • Caution during pregnancy
  • Caution when administered to a nursing woman

Precautions & Warnings

  • NSAIDs and steroids may slow or delay healing
  • Caution in patients with known bleeding tendencies
  • Caution in patients receiving medications prolonging bleeding time

Storage Conditions

  • Store in a cool, dry place
  • Away from light
  • Keep out of reach of children
  • Prevent contamination of the dropper tip and solution
  • Tightly closed when not in use
