Indications

  • Treatment of postoperative inflammation

Pharmacology

  • Preparation of Bromfenac ophthalmic solution
  • Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID)
  • Inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis
  • Mechanism of action

Dosage & Administration

  • One drop of ophthalmic solution
  • Applied to the affected eye(s) once daily
  • Beginning 1 day prior to cataract surgery
  • Continued on the day of surgery
  • Continued through the first 14 days of the postoperative period

Contraindications

  • Known hypersensitivity to any ingredients of the formulation

Side Effects

  • Abnormal sensation in eye
  • Conjunctival hyperemia
  • Eye irritation (including burning/stinging)
  • Eye pain
  • Eye pruritus
  • Eye redness
  • Headache
  • Iritis

Pregnancy & Lactation

  • Pregnancy Category C
  • Use during pregnancy if potential benefit justifies potential risk to the fetus
  • Caution when administered to a nursing woman

Precautions & Warnings

  • Topical NSAIDs may slow or delay healing
  • Topical corticosteroids may slow or delay healing
  • Concomitant use of topical NSAIDs and topical steroids may increase potential for healing problems
  • Use with caution in patients with known bleeding tendencies
  • Use with caution in patients receiving other medications prolonging bleeding time

Storage Conditions

  • Store in a cool place (below 30°C)
  • Store in a dry place
  • Store away from light
  • Keep out of reach of children
  • Prevent contamination of dropper tip and solution
  • Tightly close the bottle when not in use
  • Stop using after 4 weeks of first opening
