Indications
- Treatment of postoperative inflammation
- Reduction of ocular pain
- Patients who have undergone cataract extraction
Pharmacology
- Preparation of Bromfenac ophthalmic solution
- Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID)
- Inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis
- Mechanism of action
Dosage & Administration
- One drop of ophthalmic solution
- Applied to the affected eye(s) once daily
- Beginning 1 day prior to cataract surgery
- Continued on the day of surgery
- Continued through the first 14 days of the postoperative period
Contraindications
- Known hypersensitivity to any ingredients of the formulation
Side Effects
- Abnormal sensation in eye
- Conjunctival hyperemia
- Eye irritation (including burning/stinging)
- Eye pain
- Eye pruritus
- Eye redness
- Headache
- Iritis
Pregnancy & Lactation
- Pregnancy Category C
- Use during pregnancy if potential benefit justifies potential risk to the fetus
- Caution when administered to a nursing woman
Precautions & Warnings
- Topical NSAIDs may slow or delay healing
- Topical corticosteroids may slow or delay healing
- Concomitant use of topical NSAIDs and topical steroids may increase potential for healing problems
- Use with caution in patients with known bleeding tendencies
- Use with caution in patients receiving other medications prolonging bleeding time

Storage Conditions
- Store in a cool place (below 30°C)
- Store in a dry place
- Store away from light
- Keep out of reach of children
- Prevent contamination of dropper tip and solution
- Tightly close the bottle when not in use
- Stop using after 4 weeks of first opening
