Indications
- Prophylactic treatment of bronchial asthma
- Symptomatic treatment of allergic conditions including rhinitis and conjunctivitis

Dosage & Administration
- Adults: 1 mg twice daily with food
- Children above 3 years: 1 mg twice daily with food

Interaction
- Potentiation of effects of sedatives, hypnotics, antihistamines, and alcohols
- Reversible fall in platelet count with oral antidiabetic agents
- Suggested avoidance of combination with oral antidiabetic agents
Contraindications
- Reversible fall in platelet count with oral antidiabetic agents
- No evidence of teratogenic effects
- Recommendations against use in pregnancy or when breastfeeding

Precautions & Warnings
- Continuation of previous treatment for a minimum of two weeks after starting Orotifen

- Avoidance of alcoholic drinks
- Potentiation of effects of sedatives, hypnotics, antihistamines, and alcohol
Overdose Effects
- Confusion
- Drowsiness
- Headache
- Bradycardia
- Respiratory depression
- Recommendation for elimination of the drug with gastric lavage or emesis if overdosed
- General supportive treatment if overdosed
