Indications

  • Treatment of allergic conjunctivitis
  • Relief of symptoms of seasonal allergic rhinitis
  • Relief of symptoms of allergic rhinitis and skin conditions

Pharmacology

  • Olopatadine is an antihistamine
  • Blocks action of histamine
  • Reduces allergy symptoms
  • Mast cell stabilizer
  • Histamine H1 receptor antagonist
  • Inhibits release of inflammatory mediators
  • Moderate protein binding in human serum
  • Plasma elimination half-life of 8 to 12 hours

Dosage

  • Eye drops: 0.1%, 0.2%, 0.7% concentrations
  • Nasal spray: Adults - two sprays per nostril twice daily, Children - one spray per nostril twice daily
  • Tablet: Adults - 5mg twice daily, Children 7 years and above - 5mg twice daily
  • Dosage adjustment as per disease, age, or symptoms
