Indications
- Dilation of pupil for eye examinations
- Preparation for eye surgery
Pharmacology
- Induces mydriasis and cycloplegia
- Paralysis of the parasympathetic system
- Acts by blocking the action of the parasympathetic nervous system
Dosage & Administration
- Instill 1 or 2 drops in the eye(s) for refraction
- Instill 1 drop 15 to 20 minutes prior to fundus examination
Interaction
- Enhanced effect with atropine like substances
- Possible interaction with tricyclic antidepressants
Contraindications
- Narrow angle glaucoma
- Hypersensitivity to any component of the product
Side Effects
- Burning sensation after instillation
- Psychotic episodes and behavioral changes in children
- Impaired performance while driving or operating machinery
