Indications

Chronic open angle glaucoma
Acute or chronic narrow angle glaucoma
Suspected glaucoma
Ocular hypertension

Pharmacology

Stimulates cholinergic receptors
Produces iris sphincter muscle contraction
Increases accommodation
Reduces intraocular pressure
Facilitates aqueous humor outflow
Decreases rate of inflow of aqueous humor

Dosage & Administration

Instill 1 drop 2-4 times daily
Apply pressure on tear duct for one minute after application to minimize systemic absorption

Interaction

Belladonna alkaloids or cyclopentolate may interfere with miotic effects
May have therapeutic advantage with their own mydriatic effects dampened

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to any ingredient including excipients
Undesirable pupillary constriction conditions (e.g. acute iritis)
Retinal detachment or conditions predisposing to retinal detachment

Caution during night driving or hazardous work in poor light
Regular intraocular pressure measurements recommended

Overdose Effects

Dilution with water and other fluids is usual response to overdose
