Indications
- Treatment of elevated intraocular pressure
- Patients with ocular hypertension
- Open-angle glaucoma
Pharmacology
- Non-selective β-adrenergic receptor blocker
- Reduction of aqueous humor formation
- Lowering of blood pressure
Dosage & Administration
- Initial dose of 0.25% solution bid
- May increase to 0.5% solution bid if inadequate response
- Decrease to 0.5% solution once daily if controlled
- 1 drop of 0.5% solution not to be exceeded
- 0.25% or 0.5% Gel-forming eye drops: 1 drop once daily
Interaction
- Concomitant therapy with Timodrop and epinephrine
- Interactions with beta-adrenergic blocking agents
- Calcium antagonists
- Catecholamine-depleting drugs
- Digitalis
- Quinidine
- Clonidine
- Injectable epinephrine
Contraindications
- Bronchial asthma
- Severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease
- Sinus bradycardia
- Second or third degree atrioventricular block
- Overt cardiac failure
- Cardiogenic shock
- Hypersensitivity to any component

- Burning and stinging sensation of the eyes
- Bradycardia
- Hypotension
- Arrhythmia and AV or SA nodal block
- CHF
- Pulmonary edema
- Raynaud's phenomenon
- Headache
- Dizziness
- Fatigue
- Asthenia
- Abdominal discomfort
- Nausea
- Constipation
- Hypoglycemia
Pregnancy & Lactation
- Use during pregnancy if benefit justifies risk to fetus
- Detected in breast milk
- Potential for serious adverse reactions in nursing infants
Precautions & Warnings
- Inadequate cardiac function
- DM
- Myasthenia gravis
- Cerebrovascular insufficiency
- Atopy
- Avoid abrupt withdrawal
- Exacerbate angina symptoms
- Precipitate myocardial infarction
- Precipitate thyroid crisis
- Major surgery
- May mask signs of hyperthyroidism and hypoglycemia
- Not to be used as monotherapy for angle-closure glaucoma
- Renal and hepatic impairment
- Pregnancy and lactation

- Bronchospasm
- Cardiac arrest
