Indications

  • Treatment of elevated intraocular pressure
  • Ocular hypertension management

Pharmacology

  • Non-selective β-adrenergic receptor blocker
  • Reduction of aqueous humour formation
  • Lowering of blood pressure

Dosage & Administration

  • Initial dosage of 0.25% solution
  • Use of 0.5% solution if inadequate response
  • Decrease to 1 drop of 0.5% solution once daily if controlled
  • Instillation of gel-forming eye drops once daily

Interaction

  • Potential interaction with epinephrine
  • Possible drug interactions with beta-adrenergic blocking agents
  • Effects of concomitant administration with calcium antagonists
  • Interactions with catecholamine-depleting drugs
  • Interaction with digitalis, quinidine, clonidine, injectable epinephrine

Contraindications

  • Contraindicated in bronchial asthma patients
  • Patients with severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease
  • Patients with sinus bradycardia
  • Patients with second or third degree atrioventricular block
  • Contraindicated in overt cardiac failure, cardiogenic shock
  • Hypersensitivity to any component of the product
