Indications

  • Reduction of elevated intraocular pressure (IOP) in patients with glaucoma or ocular hypertension

Pharmacology

  • Comprised of Brimonidine Tartrate & Timolol Maleate
  • Brimonidine Tartrate is a selective alpha-2 adrenergic receptor agonist
  • Timolol Maleate is a β-adrenergic receptor antagonist
  • Dual mechanism of action to decrease aqueous humor production and increase uveoscleral outflow
  • Rapid onset of action, with peak ocular hypotensive effect seen within two hours of administration

Dosage & Administration

  • Instill 1 drop in the affected eye(s) twice daily

Interaction

  • Specific drug interaction studies have not been conducted

Contraindications

  • Hypersensitivity to any component of the product
  • Bronchial asthma
  • Severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease
  • Sinus bradycardia
  • Second or third-degree atrioventricular block
  • Overt cardiac failure
  • Cardiogenic shock

Side Effects

  • Allergic conjunctivitis
  • Conjunctival folliculosis
  • Conjunctival hyperaemia
  • Eye pruritus
  • Ocular burning or stinging

Pregnancy & Lactation

  • No adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women
  • Use during pregnancy only if potential benefit justifies potential risk to the fetus
  • Unknown excretion of Brimonidine Tartrate in human milk
  • Consideration for discontinuing nursing

Precautions & Warnings

  • Absorption systemically
  • Similar cardiovascular and pulmonary adverse reactions as systemic beta-blockers
  • Cautions in treating patients with severe or unstable and uncontrolled cardiovascular or pulmonary diseases

Use in Special Populations

  • Safety and effectiveness in children below the age of 2 years have not been established
  • No overall differences in safety or effectiveness observed between elderly and other adult patients

Storage Conditions

  • Store at a cool & dry place
  • Protect from light
  • Do not use longer than 30 days after the first opening of the bottle
