Adarbi 80 mg (Tablet)

Indications

• Treatment of hypertension
• Lowering blood pressure
• Reducing risk of cardiovascular events
• Use alone or in combination with other antihypertensive agents

Pharmacology

• Formation and effects of angiotensin II
• Selective blocking of AT1 receptor
• Effect on renin-angiotensin system
• Metabolism and elimination

Dosage & Administration

• Recommended daily dose of 80mg for adults
• Consider starting dose of 40mg for patients on high diuretic doses
• Use in combination with other antihypertensive agents if necessary

Interaction

• No observed drug interactions with specified medications
• Attenuation of antihypertensive effect by non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs

Contraindications

• Contraindicated in co-administration with Aliskiren in diabetic patients

Side Effects

• Common adverse reaction of diarrhea
• Other side effects including nausea, asthenia, fatigue, muscle spasm, dizziness, and cough

Pregnancy & Lactation

• Pregnancy Category D
• Risk to fetus during second or third trimester
• Unknown excretion in human milk

Precautions & Warnings

• Reduced fetal renal function during pregnancy
• Potential hypotension in intravascularly volume-depleted patients
• Changes in renal function including renal failure

Use in Special Populations

• Neonatal effects with in utero exposure
• No established safety and effectiveness in pediatric patients under 18 years of age
• No dose adjustment in elderly patients
• No dose adjustment in mild-to-severe renal impairment or end-stage renal disease
• No dose adjustment in mild or moderate hepatic impairment
• Not studied in patients with severe hepatic impairment

Overdose Effects

• Limited data available on human overdose
• Supportive therapy in the event of overdose
• Not dialyzable
