Composition

• Film-coated tablet
• Iron (III) Hydroxide Polymaltose Complex INN 188 mg equivalent to 47 mg elemental Iron
• Folic Acid BP 0.50 mg
• Zinc Sulfate Monohydrate USP 61.80 mg equivalent to 22.50 mg elemental Zinc
• Iron (III) Hydroxide Polymaltose Complex INN 192 mg equivalent to 48 mg elemental Iron

Pharmacology

• Preparation of Iron, Folic Acid, and Zinc
• Non-ionic Ferric Iron and Polymaltose in a stable complex
• Controlled absorption of Iron
• Importance of Folic Acid
• Role of Zinc in enzyme function and protein metabolism

Dosage & Administration

• One tablet daily
• Two tablets in severe cases or as directed by physician

Interaction

• Unlikely ionic interaction with foodstuff components
• Unlikely interaction with medicaments like tetracyclines and antacids

Contraindications

• Hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients

Side Effects

• Rarely nausea, vomiting, constipation, or diarrhea from oral Iron preparations

Pregnancy & Lactation

• Avoiding use in first trimester if possible
• Requires definite evidence of Iron deficiency for administration in first trimester

Precautions & Warnings

• Dark coloration of stool without clinical significance

Overdose Effects

• No reported intoxication or Iron overload in case of overdose
