Indications

Pharmacology
- Main component: Magaldrate
- Converts to Mg(OH)2 and Al(OH)3 in gastric acid
- Poorly absorbed for sustained antacid effect
Dosage & Administration
- Tablet: 1-3 tablets after meals and at bedtime
- Syrup: 2-3 teaspoonful, 3-4 times daily
- Take syrup half to one hour after or before meal and at bedtime
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to magnesium
- Hypersensitivity to aluminium
- Impaired renal function
Side Effects
- May cause constipation
- May cause diarrhea
Pregnancy & Lactation
- Caution with excessive dosage in pregnant women
- Passes into breast milk but not reported to cause problems in nursing babies
