Gastid (Orange Flavor) (480 mg+20 mg)/5 ml (Oral Suspension)

Indications

• Relief of dyspepsia symptoms
• Relief of heartburn
• Treatment for acid indigestion
• Relief of sour stomach
• Management of gastroesophageal reflux
• Treatment for hiatal hernia
• Hyperacidity associated with peptic ulcers
• Management of gastritis
• Management of esophagitis
• Relief of flatulence
• Treatment of abdominal distension
• Management of windy colic

Pharmacology

• Combination of magaldrate and simethicone
• Magaldrate (magnesium aluminium compound)
• Neutralizes gastric acid quickly
• Decreases activity of pepsin in gastric secretion
• Simethicone enables gas bubbles to coalesce

Dosage & Administration

• 1-4 chewable tablets after meals and at bedtime
• 2-4 teaspoonfuls (10-20 ml) of suspension after meals and at bedtime

Interaction

• Not to be used with Tetracycline
• May reduce bio-availability or slower absorption of certain drugs

Contraindications

• Hypersensitivity to magnesium and aluminium
• Impaired renal function

Side Effects

• Uncommon gastrointestinal side-effects
• Possible diarrhea, constipation, or regurgitation with excessive consumption

Pregnancy & Lactation

• Use in pregnancy if indicated
• Avoid excessive dosage
• May pass into breast milk but not reported to cause problems in nursing babies

Precautions & Warnings

• Care needed in decreased kidney function
• Care needed in hypophosphataemia
• Care needed for weak individuals

Overdose Effects

• Rare case of overdose with this formulation
