Novelta (480 mg+20 mg)/5 ml (Oral Suspension)

Indications

• Relieves symptoms of dyspepsia
• Relieves heartburn
• Relieves acid indigestion
• Relieves sour stomach
• Relieves gastroesophageal reflux
• Relieves hiatal hernia

Pharmacology

• Combination of magaldrate and simethicone
• Magaldrate neutralizes gastric acid quickly
• Magaldrate decreases pepsin activity
• Simethicone relieves flatulence

Dosage & Administration

• 1-4 chewable tablets after meals and at bedtime
• 2-4 teaspoonfuls of suspension after meals and at bedtime

Interaction

• Not to be used with Tetracycline
• May affect bio-availability of propranolol
• May affect bio-availability of isoniazid
• May affect bio-availability of prednisolone
• May affect bio-availability of naproxen

Contraindications

• Contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to magnesium and aluminium
• Contraindicated in patients with impaired renal functions

Side Effects

• Occasional gastrointestinal side-effects
• Diarrhea with excessive consumption
• Constipation with excessive consumption
• Regurgitation with excessive consumption

Pregnancy & Lactation

• May be used in pregnancy if indicated
• Avoid excessive dosage during pregnancy
• May pass into breast milk

Precautions & Warnings

• Care should be taken in decreased kidney function
• Care should be taken in hypophosphataemia
• Care should be taken in weak people

Overdose Effects

• Overdose effects are rare
