Pharmacology

  • Contains magaldrate and simethicone
  • Magaldrate neutralizes gastric acid
  • Magaldrate decreases pepsin activity
  • Simethicone coalesces gas bubbles

Dosage & Administration

  • Tablet: 1-4 chewable tablets after meals
  • Tablet: 1-4 chewable tablets at bedtime
  • Suspension: 2-4 teaspoonfuls (10-20 ml) after meals
  • Suspension: 2-4 teaspoonfuls (10-20 ml) at bedtime

Interaction

  • Should not be used with Tetracycline
  • May reduce bioavailability of certain drugs
  • May slow absorption of propranolol
  • May slow absorption of isoniazid
  • May slow absorption of prednisolone
  • May slow absorption of naproxen

Contraindications

  • Hypersensitivity to magnesium and aluminium
  • Impaired renal function

  • Occasional gastrointestinal side-effects
  • Possible diarrhea
  • Possible constipation
  • Possible regurgitation

Pregnancy & Lactation

  • May be used in pregnancy if indicated
  • Should avoid excessive dosage during pregnancy
