Indications
- Relief of symptoms of dyspepsia

Pharmacology
- Combination of magaldrate and simethicone
- Magaldrate neutralizes gastric acid
- Magaldrate decreases the activity of pepsin in gastric secretion
- Simethicone enables gas bubbles to coalesce
Dosage & Administration
- Dosage for chewable tablets: 1-4 tablets
- Dosage for chewable tablets: 20 to 60 minutes after meals and at bedtime
- Dosage for suspension: 2-4 teaspoonfuls (10-20 ml)
- Dosage for suspension: 20 to 60 minutes after meals and at bedtime
Interaction
- Contraindicated in patients taking any form of Tetracycline
- May cause reduced bioavailability or slower absorption of drugs including propranolol, isoniazid, prednisolone, and naproxen
Contraindications
- Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to magnesium and aluminium
- Contraindicated in patients with impaired renal functions
Side Effects
- Gastrointestinal side-effects are uncommon
- Occasional side effects include diarrhea, constipation, or regurgitation
Pregnancy & Lactation
- May be used in pregnancy if indicated
- Excessive dosage should be avoided during pregnancy
- May pass into breast milk but has not been reported to cause problems in nursing babies
Precautions & Warnings
- Caution in decreased kidney function
- Caution in hypophosphatemia
- Caution in weak individuals
Overdose Effects
- Overdosage with this formulation is rare
