Pharmacology
- Histamine H2-receptor antagonist
- Inhibits gastric acid secretion
Dosage & Administration
- Usual dose for adults: Famotidine 20 mg twice daily
- Famotidine 40 mg once daily
- Usual dosage for acute gastritis: Famotidine 20 mg orally twice a day
- Famotidine 40 mg once a day
- Recommended oral dose for maintenance therapy: 20 mg once daily
- Dosage for Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) based on age groups
- Dosage for pediatric patients
Interaction
- No clinically important drug interactions
- Does not interact with the cytochrome P450-linked drug-metabolizing enzyme system
