Indications

Pharmacology
- Histamine H2-receptor antagonist
- Inhibition of basal, overnight, and pentagastrin stimulated gastric acid secretion
Dosage & Administration
- Usual dose for adults: Famotidine 20 mg twice daily
- Usual dosage for acute gastritis: Famotidine 20 mg orally twice a day
- Dosage adjustment according to age and symptoms
- Recommended oral maintenance therapy dose: 20 mg once daily
- Famotidine powder for suspension dosages for different age groups
Interaction
- No clinically important drug interactions identified
- No interaction with cytochrome P450-linked drug-metabolizing enzyme system
