Pharmacology

Travoprost isopropyl ester prodrug
Synthetic prostaglandin F2 alpha analogue
Rapid hydrolysis by corneal esterases
Highly selective for the FP prostanoid receptor
Increases drainage of aqueous humor
Increases uveoscleral outflow
Increases trabecular outflow facility

Dosage & Administration

Recommended dose for adults: one drop in the affected eye(s) once daily in the evening
Administer at least 5 minutes apart from other topical ophthalmic products
Start following day with Travoprost when substituting another antiglaucoma agent
Not established for pediatric patients

Interaction

Reduced therapeutic effect with NSAIDs

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to travoprost or any excipients

Side Effects

Frequently reported side-effect: ocular hyperaemia

Pregnancy & Lactation

Use during pregnancy if potential benefit justifies potential risk to fetus
Exercise caution when administered during lactation

Precautions & Warnings

Use with caution in active intraocular inflammation
Avoid administration while wearing contact lenses
Contact lenses can be reinserted 15 minutes after administration
