Indications

• Treats erectile dysfunction (ED)

Pharmacology

• Selective inhibitor of PDE5
• Initiates penile erection through smooth muscle relaxation and increased blood flow into the penis

Dosage & Administration

• Recommended starting dose of 10 mg once daily
• Can be increased to a maximum of 20 mg or decreased to 5 mg based on efficacy and side effects
• Can be taken with or without food
• Special considerations for geriatrics, renal impaired patients, and hepatic impaired patients

Interaction

• Potentiates the blood pressure lowering effect of antihypertensive agents
• No potentiation of the hypotensive effect of alcohol
• Interacts with CYP3A4 inhibitors

Contraindications

• Contraindicated with nitrates and nitric oxide donors
• Contraindicated for patients with hypersensitivity to Vardenafil or any ingredients of the product

Pregnancy & Lactation

• Not indicated for women

Precautions & Warnings

• Consider cardiovascular status of patients
• Degree of cardiac risk associated with sexual activity
• Not recommended for men for whom sexual activity is not advised due to underlying cardiovascular status

Overdose Effects

• Maximum dose of 120 mg
• Effects include blurred vision and back pain
• No serious adverse effects observed with single doses up to 80 mg and multiple doses up to 40 mg over 4 weeks
