Indications
- Aid to smoking cessation treatment
Pharmacology
- Binds with high affinity and selectivity at α4β2 neuronal nicotinic acetylcholine receptors
- Produces agonist activity at α4β2 sub-type of the nicotinic receptor
- Prevents nicotine binding to the receptors
- Highly selective and binds more potently to α4β2 receptors than to other common nicotinic receptors or non-nicotinic receptors and transporters
Dosage
- Recommended dose of 1 mg twice daily
- 1-week titration with specific dosages for different days
- Treatment duration of 12 weeks, with additional 12 weeks for successful cases
Administration
- Oral intake after eating with a full glass of water
Interaction
- May increase intoxicating effects of alcohol

- Known hypersensitivity to varenicline or any of the excipients in the product
