Indications
- Topical treatment of acne vulgaris
Pharmacology
- Acts on retinoid receptors
- Modulator of cellular differentiation and keratinization
- Binds with specific retinoic acid nuclear receptors
- Decreases microcomedone formation
- Low absorption through human skin
Dosage
- 0.1% Adapalene: Once daily application to affected skin areas at night
- 0.3% Adapalene: Once daily application to entire face and affected areas in the evening
- Not established for children below 12 years of age
Administration
- Thin film application to affected skin areas
Interaction
- Caution with concomitant use of potentially irritating topical products
- Particular caution with preparations containing sulfur, resorcinol or salicylic acid
- Better to use in two different times if combined with other medications
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to Adapalene or any of its components

- Scaling
- Dryness
- Pruritus
- Burning sensation
- Skin irritation
- Acne flares
- Effects lessen with continued use
Pregnancy & Lactation
- Use during pregnancy if benefit justifies potential risk
- Unknown excretion in breast milk
- Caution when administering to nursing mother

- Avoid applying to cuts, abrasions, eczematous, or sunburned skin
