Indications
- Topical treatment of acne vulgaris
Pharmacology
- Acts on retinoid receptors
- Modulates cellular differentiation
- Decreases microcomedone formation
- Low absorption through human skin
Dosage
- Adapalene 0.1% for affected areas once daily at night-time
- Adapalene 0.3% for entire face and affected areas once daily in the evening
- Not established for children below 12 years of age
Administration
- Apply thin film of gel or cream to affected areas
Interaction
- Caution with other potentially irritating topical products
- Exercise particular caution with sulfur, resorcinol, or salicylic acid preparations
- Avoid simultaneous use with potentially irritating products
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to Adapalene or any of its components

- Erythema
- Scaling
- Dryness
- Pruritus
- Burning sensation
- Skin irritation
- Acne flares
- Effects usually lessen with continued use
Pregnancy & Lactation
- Use during pregnancy if potential benefit justifies potential risk to fetus
- Unknown excretion in breast milk
- Caution when administering to nursing mother

- Do not apply to cuts, abrasions, eczematous, or sunburned skin
