Indications

Treatment of elevated intraocular pressure
Patients with ocular hypertension
Open-angle glaucoma

Pharmacology

Inhibition of carbonic anhydrase
Decreases aqueous humor secretion
Reduction in intraocular pressure

Dosage & Administration

Shake well before use
Insert 1 drop in the affected eye(s) three times daily
Pediatric use: One drop in the affected eye(s) 2 times daily in pediatric patients (4 weeks to 5 years age)
Geriatric use: No overall differences in safety or effectiveness observed between elderly and younger patients

Interaction

Rare instances of drug interactions with high-dose salicylate therapy
Consider potential drug interactions in patients receiving Brinop

Precautions & Warnings

Brinop is a sulfonamide
Adverse reactions attributable to sulfonamides may occur
Fatalities rarely occurred due to severe reactions
Sensitization may occur upon re-administration of sulfonamide
Discontinue use if serious reactions or hypersensitivity occur
Not recommended in renal impairment patients
Use with caution in hepatic impairment patients

Overdose Effects

Electrolyte imbalance
Development of an acidosis state
Possible nervous system effects
Monitoring serum electrolyte levels and blood pH levels is recommended
