Indications

Pharmacology
- Synthetic glucocorticoid

Dosage & Administration
- Oral dosages vary from 1 mg to 10 mg for adults
- Oral dosages vary from 0.03-0.20 mg/kg body weight for children

- Intravenous, intramuscular, or local injection administration
- Dosage depends on the severity of the condition and patient response
Interaction
- Potassium loss enhancement with diuretics and cardiac glycosides
- Impaired glucose tolerance with antidiabetics
- Increased incidence of gastrointestinal ulceration with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs
Contraindications
- Gastric and duodenal ulcers
- Systemic and ophthalmic fungal infections
- Viral infections like varicella and herpes genitalis
- Glaucoma
- Hypersensitivity to corticosteroids
