Indications
- First-line treatment for locally advanced or metastatic non-small cell lung cancer in combination with cisplatin
- Single agent treatment for metastatic non-small cell lung cancer
Pharmacology
- Vinorelbine binds to tubulin
- Inhibits microtubule formation
- Arrests the cell at metaphase
Dosage & Administration
- Intravenous administration for cervical, breast, and ovarian cancer
- Different dosages for different types of cancer
- Oral administration for non-small cell lung cancer
Interaction
- Increased risk of granulocytopenia with cisplatin
- Increased neurotoxicity risk with paclitaxel, itraconazole, and ketoconazole
- Increased radiosensitising effects with radiation therapy
- Increased pulmonary toxicity with mitomycin
- Increased myelotoxicity with zidovudine
- Possible increase in vincristine levels with aprepitant
- Possible infection with live vaccines
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to vinorelbine or other vinca alkaloids
- Severe current or recent infection
- Neutropenia
- Thrombocytopenia
- Severe hepatic impairment
- Intrathecal administration
- Concomitant use with radiotherapy if liver is in the treatment field
- Pregnancy
- Lactation
