Aclene Plus 0.1%+2.5% (Gel)

Indications

• Topical treatment of acne vulgaris
• For patients 12 years and older

Pharmacology

• Adapalene binds to specific retinoic acid nuclear receptors
• Modulator of cellular differentiation and keratinization
• Benzoyl peroxide has bacteriocidal and keratolytic effects

Dosage & Administration

• Apply a thin film to affected areas once daily
• Use a pea-sized amount for each area of the face
• Avoid eyes, lips, and mucous membranes
• Not for oral, ophthalmic, or intravaginal use
• Pediatric use not established

Interaction

• Caution with concomitant topical acne therapy
• No formal drug-drug interaction studies

Contraindications

• Hypersensitivity to any component

Side Effects

• Erythema, scaling, dryness, stinging/burning
• Most commonly reported adverse events
• Dry skin, contact dermatitis, application site burning, irritation

Pregnancy & Lactation

• No well-controlled trials in pregnant women
• Use during pregnancy if benefit justifies risk to fetus
• Caution with nursing women

Precautions & Warnings

• Avoid sunlight and sunlamps
• Use sunscreen when sun exposure cannot be avoided
