Indications
- Prevention of itching associated with allergic conjunctivitis
Pharmacology
- Contains Alcaftadine, a histamine receptor antagonist
- Inhibits release of histamine from mast cell
- Demonstrates anti-inflammatory property
Dosage & Administration
- Instill one drop in each eye once daily for adults and children over 2 years
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to any component in the product
Side Effects
- Ocular reactions: eye irritation, burning, stinging, redness, pruritus
- Other reactions: nasopharyngitis, headache
Pregnancy & Lactation
- Pregnancy category B
- Use during pregnancy only if clearly needed
- Caution during nursing
Precautions & Warnings
- Avoid touching eyelids or surrounding areas with dropper tip
- Do not wear contact lenses if the eye is red
- Remove contact lenses before instillation
- Administer at least 5 minutes apart from other ophthalmic medicinal products
Use in Special Populations
- Safety and effectiveness not established in pediatric patients below 2 years
- No overall differences in safety or effectiveness observed in geriatric use
