Description
Alaxen is a medication indicated for anxiety disorder, short term relief of anxiety, anxiety associated with depression, panic disorder, with or without agoraphobia. It is a triazole analog of the 1,4-benzodiazepine class with anxiolytic, hypnotic, and anticonvulsive properties. The medication interacts with the Gamma Aminobutyric Acid (GABA)-benzodiazepine receptor complex. The usual starting dose is 0.25 mg, two or three times daily and may be gradually increased if needed and tolerated. The maximum dose should not exceed 4 mg/day. Alaxen has potential side effects such as drowsiness, light-headedness, depression, headache, confusion, dry mouth, and constipation. It is pregnancy category D and should be avoided during lactation. Alaxen should be administered with caution to patients with hepatic or renal disease, chronic pulmonary insufficiency, or sleep apnea. Safety and effectiveness of Alaxen in individuals below 18 years of age have not been established. Keep Alaxen below 30°C temperature, away from light & moisture, and out of the reach of children.
