Pharmacology

  • Non-systemic acid neutralizing substances
  • Antiflatulent mixture
  • Reliable and long-lasting action
  • Ulcer relief through gastric acid neutralization
  • Antifoam properties of simethicone
  • Formation of low surface tension film
  • Collapse of foam bubbles
  • Coalescence and expulsion of gas bubbles in GI tract
  • Treatment of flatulence and meteorism
  • Elimination of gas, air, or foam from the gastrointestinal tract
  • Relief of abdominal distension and dyspepsia
  • Physiologically inert and non-absorbed from GI tract
  • Excretion unchanged in the feces

Dosage & Administration

  • Tablet dosage: 1-2 tablets 1-3 hours after meal and at bedtime
  • Suspension dosage: 1-2 teaspoonful 1-3 hours after meal and at bedtime

Interaction

  • Increase or decrease in absorption of oral drugs
  • Bioavailability impact on theophylline, tetracycline, quinolone antibiotics, isoniazide, ketoconazole, etc.
  • Bioavailability impact on sulphonamides, levodopa, valproic acid, enteric coated aspirin, etc.

Contraindications

  • Patients with renal failure
  • Patients with hypophosphataemia
  • Severely debilitated patients
  • Alkalosis
  • Hypermagnesaemia
  • Partial or complete intestinal obstruction

Side Effects

  • Uncommon gastrointestinal side effects
  • Possible diarrhea, constipation, or regurgitation with excessive consumption

Pregnancy & Lactation

  • Avoidance advised in first trimester of pregnancy
