Indications
- Treatment of hypertension
- Initial therapy for patients needing multiple drugs for blood pressure control
Pharmacology
- Fixed dose combination of Telmisartan and Amlodipine
- Telmisartan blocks vasoconstrictor and aldosterone-secreting effects
- Amlodipine inhibits transmembrane influx of calcium ion into vascular smooth muscle and cardiac muscle
Dosage & Administration
- Usual starting dose of 40/5 mg once daily
- Maximum recommended dose of 80/10 mg once daily
- Patient may be switched to this product for adverse reactions from amiodipine
- Dosage individualization and increase after 2 weeks
Interaction
- No clinically significant interactions with several drugs
- Possible inhibition of CYP2C19 metabolism by Telmisartan
- Safe administration with various drugs including thiazide diuretics, beta-blockers, and warfarin
Contraindications
- Known hypersensitivity to the product or its components
- Pregnancy & lactation
- Severe hepatic impairment, hypotension, cardiogenic shock

Precautions & Warnings
- Avoid fetal or neonatal exposure
- Correct volume or salt depletion before therapy
- Monitor for worsening heart failure
- Avoid concomitant use of ACE inhibitor and angiotensin receptor blocker
Use in Special Populations
- No established safety and effectiveness in pediatric patients
- Not recommended for patients ≥75 years old or with hepatic impairment
Overdose Effects
- Manifestations of telmisartan overdose: hypotension, dizziness, tachycardia
- Manifestations of amlodipine overdose: marked hypotension, reflex tachycardia
